Visual Narrative #1

This was my favorite visual narrative because I loved the overall plot line about funny break-ups/relationships, and flowers are one of my favorite things so of course this was great. = ) The music was so fitting for the story – I don’t think they could have picked anything better.  There were so many humorous parts throughout, especially when the laxatives were slipped in the Starbucks drink.  A nice variety of shots were used as well, and I loved how the actors were cropped several times into various vacation backgrounds.  This was a really solid visual narrative with lots of complexity and creativity!

Visual Narrative #2

This story was great!  It was probably the most creative story by far, and I loved how the music seemed to match the sequence of events perfectly.  Even if you weren’t looking at the screen, you could tell when a climactic moment was about to occur because of the music.  I enjoyed the other sound effects, especially the sound of gunshots because it just added another element of complexity to the narrative.  A nice variety of shots were also used in order to keep the story interesting.  Very nice visual narrative!

Visual Narrative # 3

I thoroughly enjoyed Fess Up or Be Weary because it was a humorous and creative story line, and the plot really progressed in a logical manner.  I found it to be comical and entertaining, and I enjoyed how there were numerous shots of other professors around Wake Forest.  I thought there was a diverse shot selection, along with a “story within a story” that showed that much thought went into this visual narrative.  Overall, it was a great project and entertaining story to watch!

Bones Free Writing Activity

My favorite food in the whole world is just pure ice cream.  Think about how good it really is with such a rich flavor and pure texture and nothing but sweet and sugary goodness.  I mean, if someone  said pick one dessert to have for the rest of your life, how could anyone not automatically select ice cream?  I used to love just plain vanilla ice cream but that has become a bit too bland for me although it’s still excellent, but now I prefer either Coffee ice cream or the good ole mint chocolate chip.  My roommate says that some brand called Turkey Hill has the best ice cream, but apparently they don’t have that down here in the south and only up in the north so for now I prefer Edy’s ice cream or Ben and Jerry’s.  Also, sometimes Ben and Jerry’s is a bit overrated but still really good.  Another good choice is Coldstone Creamery or just Breyer’s ice cream from the store – it doesn’t get much better than Breyer’s.  There’s also a really good place in Winston-Salem called Zack’s frozen yogurt and it’s somewhat healthy so I’ve already been there twice this week.  But not because it’s healthy, just because it tastes so so good.

Usain Bolt…cocky or confident?

So after watching Usain Bolt dominate at the World Track and Field Championships in mid-August in Berlin, I immediately began to wonder if perhaps this superstar has taken his success a bit too far.  There is no doubt about it that Bolt completely smashed his competition in both the 100 and 200 meter sprints while collecting world records along the way in each event, but while some interpret his charisma and enthusiasm as pure confidence, I can’t help but think his actions seem a bit cocky.  Before the start of each event, he could be seen in his lane waving to the camera and seemingly making jokes as his name was announced to the audience, when in my opinion, a humble wave and gesture towards the crowd seems all that is necessary.  In addition, after he wins each of his events and sets world records, he does a dance for at least ten seconds that seems arrogant and portrays an unsportsmanlike attitude.  I admire his dedication and achievements on the track, and am in no way diminshing the importance of his dominant wins to the sport of track and field, but I just feel that a more gracious and traditional approach to his wins instead of celebratory dances might be a bit more appropriate for an athlete of his caliber.  Just as no one likes a sore loser, no one really appreciates a sore winner, either.
